New Year… New Goals!

As we enter into the new year, I think I can speak for everyone when I say we are all hoping for some change in 2021.

Along with New Years Eve celebrations (even though they may be a little quieter and smaller this year), writing the wrong year down when dating a document, and the kids returning to school after holiday break- comes the expected New Years Resolutions. Resolutions vary from person to person and are usually attempts to better one’s self. Statistically speaking year after year top resolutions include exercising more and eating healthier. We see the gyms and fitness centers jammed packed for a few weeks and watch them dwindle down to average attendance as we enter February.

But what if we took it a step further.

A resolution though a great start is merely an intention. A resolution is a decision; to do, or to not do something. Instead of a resolution, I urge you to make some goals. Go for it. Goals are not just a decision to do/ not do something. Goals involve intention setting, planning, prepping, and taking real live action. Smaller steps, smaller goals to help you achieve the main goal.

Goals are statements of commitment and direction.

That’s why at Tri State Kickboxing and Mixed Martial are we stress the words GOALS as our word of the month in our Children’s program for January.

The main goal across the board – black belt. Each child, when they choose Tri State Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts sets that goal of Black Belt. Each belt in between white and black are smaller goals, inching towards that bigger one. We are consistent with our training, focused in class, earning our stripes- putting in the work towards that goal. And along that journey towards that black belt goal, children are inheriting positive habits and character development skills that will aid them in being the best person they can be in life.

So turn back in your planner, bring up that note in your phone again. Change the script. Remove the Resolutions. Let’s set some New Years Goals- and let’s get to work.

Set Goals, Take Action,
